We are the Builders without Borders La Mesa Group. This is a new charter organized by Terry and Cindy King and Kevin and Jamie Tominey. We started this venture of trying to help some of the people in Mexico by building homes for families that desperately need one. This began four years ago as we helped another charter, and then our two families decided it was time to sponsor our own. We have been able to help several families, one family was staying in an early 1970′s motor home that was literally falling apart. This good brother worked at a Sony factory refurbishing flat screen TV’s and was paid $300.00 a month. Now for the best part, we were able to show our children the real meaning of service; that is the beauty of what we do. Sure we are helping the folks in Mexico but more important we are teaching a new generation to have charity and not to think about themselves. Our families, daughters included, would not give up this chance to serve. We have even brought along young adult groups from our area and we encourage parents that if they have teenagers they need to bring them to Mexico or we will take them. The world needs these lessons. One of the best aspects of what we do is that it is affordable for most people. All we ask is $700.00 per person. This will included gas expense (that we make equal between everyone) plus food and lodging. Our families invite you along with us, or if you would prefer, donations are accepted. This experience will make the rest of what you do all year seem insignificant.
Welcome to the St. George Summer Charter! We are Todd and Sharon Hartle. We’ve been going to Mexico since 2009 with Builders Without Borders of Utah. Our group goes in the beginning of June to Otay, which is located just a few miles beyond the San Diego, California border.
We build simple homes for families in desperate need, repair and replace roofs, provide necessary food, clothing and medical supplies, teach classes to help better their lives, and provide opportunities and materials that will help the people acquire skills that will allow them to earn money to provide for their families. When we build a home for someone in Mexico, we are not just changing the lives of those that we serve by providing shelter, security, and means to become self-reliant, we are changing the lives of generations to come. The long term effect of what we do is incalculable in the lives of those we serve.
We would love to have you and your family and friends come join us and be a part of this wonderfully rewarding experience. The participation fee is $300 per person. This fee covers meals while in Mexico, and some trip expenses; any remaining goes towards building homes.
If you are not able to come with us, but would still like to be a part of helping to change people’s lives you may make a donation. Be assured that 100% of your thoughtful donation goes towards humanitarian projects and is tax deductible. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about our trip or making a donation. Make sure you take a look at our page, some of our trip pictures, testimonials, and blog. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you!
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our group! We have the honor of serving the beautiful people of Florido, a picturesque farm town on the east side of Tijuana. Our trip takes place during the Thanksgiving break when we travel to Mexico to build houses, do construction projects, and provide service workshops. We all work hard to help improve the lives of these people who live so humbly. The cost of the trip is $300/person with the majority of that money going toward construction cost and the rest covering the trip expenses. We welcome families, single adults and college students. We cap our trips at 100 people. We do this to ensure a positive experience and keep the logistics manageable so we can focus on what is really important. These group members, along with the people of Florido whom we serve, WILL become your family! Nothing can prepare you for the love you will feel for these brothers and sisters. Many have started this experience thinking they will change others’ lives. While this is true, it is YOUR life that will change the most. We would love to have you join us so please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions regarding the trips or other ways you can help by donating.
Chris and Angie Evans have been involved with Builders Without Borders of Utah since 2006. In 2010 Chris & Angie started The Insurgentes Charter. This area includes South Eastern Tijuana, Ojo de Agua and Tecate, Mexico. Service trips are during the Christmas break, typically from December 26 through January 2 or 3. There is a small participation fee that covers transportation of materials, food while we are in Mexico, as well as contributions to the cost of building material. The participation fee is $400 per person.
In addition to building homes and repairing roofs, there is a wide variety of other projects that include Eagle projects, workshops teaching budgeting, first aid, hair cutting and sewing. It is true that the homes we build are substandard to what is built in the USA, but the people in Tijuana and Tecate are always so grateful for what we are able to provide for them. These services we provide change lives, both for those who are giving and for those receiving. Please feel free to review our page, the trip pictures, testimonials or always feel free to contact us directly with any questions about joining our team or how to donate.
Hello, we are James and Charole Hansen and we would like to thank you for your interest in our group. We typically go down during Thanksgiving break to build houses and give service to the wonderful people of La Gloria. A typical group consists mostly of families; however we love to have college students that are eager to serve and work hard. A trip costs $400/person. That money covers the cost of food and transportation and any leftover after that will go to building costs. If you would like to help and may not be able to take a trip to Mexico with us, we can always use donations to help with the construction costs. The homes we build are minimal compared to how we live here in the USA, but your donation will help to provide a home for someone who may not have one now. The services we provide are life-changing for those we serve, and the experiences of the volunteers and donors are just as life-changing. Please feel free to take a look at our page, some of our trip pictures, testimonials, and blog. Also don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions about our trips or donations.
