Chris and Angie Evans have been involved with Builders Without Borders of Utah since 2006. In 2010 Chris & Angie started The Insurgentes Charter. This area includes South Eastern Tijuana, Ojo de Agua and Tecate, Mexico. Service trips are during the Christmas break, typically from December 26 through January 2 or 3. There is a small participation fee that covers transportation of materials, food while we are in Mexico, as well as contributions to the cost of building material. The participation fee is $400 per person.
In addition to building homes and repairing roofs, there is a wide variety of other projects that include Eagle projects, workshops teaching budgeting, first aid, hair cutting and sewing. It is true that the homes we build are substandard to what is built in the USA, but the people in Tijuana and Tecate are always so grateful for what we are able to provide for them. These services we provide change lives, both for those who are giving and for those receiving.
